School has been in session for 2 weeks now. I'm not to sure I'm enjoying all three of them being in three different schools. Ok here's the run down...
Sam is now a Freshman at Foothill High (Go Falcons) along with freshman year it brought Seminary and the urgency to really make school lunches. Besides who enjoys playing... what is in my lunch today... cafeteria food was barely recognizable when I was in school, it's gotten even worse now. Anyhoo... so because Sam is a freshman he's also a full blooded, hormonal teenage boy that doesn't like to get up before the hour of 2 pm. Why not he has midnight oil to burn. The only problem is that he started early morning seminary this year so we have to be up a whole hour earlier then normal every single morning!!!!!
Why we you ask? Well that's a good question and I'll tell you why 'WE' have to be up. I have to get up to wake him and his father up. Godforbid if we ever depended on alarm clocks to wake them up. Why should they when they have me right? Second of all I have to make lunches for my darling boys in the morning. Which brings us to the next question, aren't you prepared enough to make them at night? Well I would but refer back to full blown hormonal teenage BOY!!!!!! Have you seen how much they eat????? They never stop eating, from the time they get up in the morning till they go to bed at night they eat and eat and eat some more. On top of this add him playing football and constantly working out, yep has to have more fuel to burn so there goes the grocery bill.
:::: Sigh :::: Honestly I think I work to only feed him.....
Now enter Andrew who started Middle School this year. Yes 6th grade, where has the time gone to when he would be bright eyed and bushy tailed at 4:30 am to tell me the sun is awake? (yep wasn't really finding him cute those mornings) That child is gone, Andrew feels that anytime between 10-11 is a good time to wake up. Now, granted that is better then 2 but still... hello I'm not a morning person and even I can get out of bed early. Andrew not to be outdone by his brother has a very healthy appetite. Only difference is Andrew would rather not be bothered by exercise. Can he do it, absolutely and he's my most coordinated and athletic one I have too, but no his exercise comes from clicking a mouse or a remote (aka THE CLICKER).
Andrew's school had to make life interesting and let out 10 min after the elementary school but a good 35 min after the high school. Not that pick up at the high school is necessary right now as Sam has practice every night till 6 pm. Yeah did I happen to mention I get to do all this and work full time too.
Enter Jake who is still in elementary school and he can ride his bike back and forth from the school. Gotta love that kid. Jake however is the worst one of all the boys to get out of bed. This is a morning in our house:
Me: Boys time to get up and get ready for school. (they share a room)
Boys: Barely stirring and saying something inaudible
10 min pass
Me: Boys time to get up and get ready if you don't get up now you'll be late.
Andrew: Ok I'm awake, gets out of bed and literally fumbles his way to the bathroom.
Jake: Stirs again and moans
10 min later
Me: Jake YOU NEED TO GET UP NOW
Jake: Mom morning is too early to wake up to loud voices
Me: :::: rolling my eyes :::: Jacob please get out of bed you will be late if you don't. ::: said in a softer voice :::
Jake: Moans... OK and slowly ( I mean even a snail goes faster) gets out of bed.
I head off to get ready for work, because now I'm running late (which makes me extremely grateful I only work 5 min away from home)
5 min before everyone has to leave for school and work,
Me: Boys do you have your lunches,
Boys: Oh no I forgot, they run and grab them from the fridge (I make them at 5:30 they leave at 8)
Me: Did you brush your teeth?
Andrew: Yep all ready done
Jake: You want me to brush my teeth???? (what did he think I wanted him to brush the wall?)
Me: Yes go brush them and wash your hands and face too
Jake comes out of the bathroom
Me: Did you wash your hands and face?
Jake: you want me to do that too?
Now I"m feeling slightly frustrated.... Yes, I say curtly (uhm, I mean calmly) please do that now and hurry we are late.
Again moving slower then a snail... he goes back in then he calls out... "Do you want me to use soap?" :::: rolling my eyes :::: now what did he think I wanted him to use the soft scrub under the sink?
YES AND PLEASE HURRY
He finally emerges from the bathroom with a wet shirt (he's 10 one would think by now he could manage to wash his face and hands without bathing in the sink) and runs out the door.
Now if I had all the boys in 2 different schools or even one school (ah the good ole daze) then we would still have this issue in the morning but at least I'm not worrying about one being late, and perhaps one day I'll actually make it to work on time.
I think school mornings is also an olympic event for mother's across America, trying to get their kids out the door in a reasonable amount of time. Us working moms have a catagory all our own. Not that moms who stay home don't do a lot as a former SAHM I was actually busier then I am now....

They alaready eat like pigs, are you telling me its going to get worse, and I need to get a part time job just to feed them?????? OH gosh! I know what you mean about the sleeping, that part is kicking in. As long as their chores are done, and the rooms are clean they can sleep all day as far as Im concerned!
